Shang Dynasty

Religion

They worshipped a figure called 'Shang Ti' or 'Lord on high'. This supreme god ruled over lesser gods of moon, rain, wind, sun and other natural forces and places. The Shang also believed that their ancestors dwelled in heaven after their death and continued to show an interest in their family and descendants. Failing in one's duties to the ancestors could bring all sorts of disaster on a family. All these divine and semi-divine figures, from Shang-Ti to a family's ancestors were sacrifices to. It is highly likely that Shang-Ti was the 'local god' of the Shang kings who was subsequently elevated in order to elevate the Shang themselves. Shang sacrifice involved humans, slaves, prisoners of war were sacrificed by the hundreds when a king died. Lesser numbers were sacrificed at the founding of a palace or temple.

What happened c. 1500 BCE?

Archaeologist says that floods could have caused the decline of the Indus Valley Civilisation and these floods would have destroyed the irrigation systems that people depended on for their farming. Other people thinks that the flood might have bred mosquitoes which led to outbreaks of malaria. Plus, the decline was almost certainly speeded up by the invasion of the Indus Valley by a group of Aryans. The Indus Valley Civilisation ends like that. This evidence was written in a textbook, secondary source.

The room in the center of the picture is where skeletons were

What are my history that meant a lot to me and what are the benefits?

My history that meant a lot to me are my computer, PSP, TV, mp4 and handphone.

1. Computer

My computer meant a lot to me as it has internet that helps me research in a convenient and easy way like, researching information for projects and sometimes we have to do E-learning homework like what I am doing now.

2. PSP

My PSP meant a lot to me as it entertains me when I'm bored. Sometimes, if someone is using my computer, I will play my PSP to entertain myself. It is portable so I can play it in any way. Example, lying down on a bed.

3. TV

My TV meant a lot to me as it entertains me too. I can also gain knowledge watching TV by watching the news and crime watch.

4. mp4 player

My mp4 player meant a lot to me as it entertains me when I'm bored in a bus. I will listen to music whenever I'm bored. With this creation, it doesn't bother other people as only myself is able to listen to the music.

5. Handphone

My handphone meant a lot to me as it helps me to contact others like my family members and friends. In an emergency, it's easy to contact my family with a handphone.

1. What do we learn when we study history?

When we study history, we get to understand how people in the past lived and about the environment long ago.

2. Name 4 good reasons for studying history.

a) We get to learn the inventions of the past and these can be contributed to the inventions of today.

b) We get to learn the mistakes people in the past had done and learn from them so that we will not repeat the same mistakes.

c) We get to know the identity of the popular people in the past so that people today can make true stories about them.

d) We get to know how difficult the people in the past had lived and still, they could survive. So, it tells us not to give up if we face a challenge because the people in the past had faced a harder challenge.
